Château Saint-Estève - Corbières
Château Saint-Estève is found on the Boutenac terroir in the Corbières in Languedoc-Roussillon, South of France. The 120 ha of vines grow on chalky clay and stony soil and benefit from a mediterranean climate. The Château is owned by Sylvie and Eric Latham since 1984. With the same determination as of their ancestors (notably the writer and adventurer Henri de Monfreid and the pioneer pilot Hubert Latham) they have elaborated superb wines showing complexity and intensity, with softness of their texture and fineness of the tannins amongst which Emois Gourmands have chosen the following:

100% Grenache blanc
aged on fine lees in oak barrels for 6 months
Colour: pale gold
Nose: aromas of peach, pear, vanilla and white flowers
Palate: aromas of butter, mineral and smokiness
Alcohol: 13.5%

Cuvée Altair- 75cl AOP Corbières - £25

80% Syrah, 20% Grenache
aged in oak barrels for 12 months
Colour: deep ruby
Nose: aromas of jammed red fruits, vanilla with a hint of pepper and spices
Palate: round and full tannins, notes of candied red fruits, caramel, mocha and tobacco
Alcohol: 14.5%
Enjoyed best: 16°C and
